Ocean-bound plastic utilises plastic waste that is collected from areas at high risk of entering the ocean. These materials are typically recovered from coastal communities, waterways, and informal waste streams within approximately 50km of shorelines where waste management infrastructure is limited.

Without intervention, much of this plastic would ultimately reach the ocean, contributing to marine pollution and long-term environmental damage.

By collecting and recycling ocean-bound plastic, the material can be diverted from the environment and re-introduced into the manufacturing supply chain as recycled plastic.
